3/20/20 EMAIL – BAND Invites for all 19-20 MKS Families
Good morning MKS Dancers and Families!
We are missing you all so much & are excited to finally dance with you this week!  We hope this email finds everyone healthy and safe.  We have been praying for you all!
 
We have been working so hard to get all content prepared and uploaded into the BANDs for the different age groups/levels of classes.  In theory, this is all very simple, in practice, however the task is large – We are preparing at least 45 different routines for this year’s dance concert for around 80+ classes.  Therefore, we are prioritizing the content that will be added to the BANDs in order to best use our time, keep our staff members safe, and help our dancers –
 
1.  WARM-UPS & DANCE CONCERT CHOREOGRAPHY THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN TAUGHT
 
Teachers have recorded warm-ups & practice videos of Dance Concert routines first, and we have loaded these into the BANDs.  Some teachers loaded videos already taken from class time and some made new videos at the studio or from home.  Students should use these videos to review, memorize & improve!  Warm-ups & Stretches have been included for all age groups that should be done BEFORE working on Dance Concert routines.
 
2. DANCE CONCERT SONG FILES
 
We have also loaded in the song files (mp3’s) for each dance for you to have for practicing.  Once your dancer or tumbler feels confident dancing without the videos, they can use the mp3’s!
 
3. FINISHING DANCES IF NEEDED
 
Teachers have been and will continue to finish any needed choreography for routines, and these will be sent as they are completed.  These will be sent with counts and clarification.  Check your class post to see if there is anything new to learn!
4. FUN STUFF!
We have included and will continue to be adding some fun activities – puzzles, challenges, and more as time goes on!
5. LYRIC SHEET WORKSHEETS – COMING SOON!
 
We will be loading in the lyric sheet worksheets that we go through with our classes to better define WHY we are dancing and the specific message that each song & dance brings to the Dance Concert.  Please partner with us – read through the lyrics and answer/discuss the questions on the worksheet together.  
 
6. ONLINE CLASSES – COMING SOON!
 
Once we are confident students are equipped to practice and finish learning dance concert routines, we will also be uploading classes for students to participate with us at home!  
 
How to access BAND on your phone – 
  • Download the app from the app store – look for the lime green box with a lower case “B” in a disco font.
  • Login with a phone number, email, Facebook or Google.
  • Click on the Invitation to BAND for your particular group (see your email for the link)
  • Once in, check the POSTS (on your main screen) for latest information & video posts and CHATS (bottom left talk bubble) for communications
  • Song files and any documents are found in the posts in which they were uploaded
 
How to access BAND on your computer – 
  • Easily access BAND at this website and login with a phone number, email, Facebook or Google – https://band.us/
  • Click on the Invitation to BAND for your particular group (see your email for the link)
  • Once in, check the POSTS FOR EACH CLASS (on your main screen) for latest class videos and information
  • CHATS (for communications) & FILES (for songs & documents) are on the right side of your screen, song & document files are also in the posts in which they were uploaded

Tuition information for April (we will be taking it one month at a time for now) will be sent out sometime before this weekend as well.  Please do NOT worry about anything!  We want to keep EVERYONE dancing with us through the end of this “school year” – however that might look.  We love you all and want dancing together to be a bright spot during this time, something that keeps us happy, grounded and connected!
