Dance with Purpose

Did you know that there are people in our community who are involved with modern-day slavery known as Human Trafficking?  People are bought and sold for various reasons right here among us, and we may not recognize it.  This month, the MKS Blessing Project will be hosting our 2nd “Everyday Abolitionists” performance to raise awareness of Human Trafficking.  On Saturday, January 17 at 6:30pm at Cornerstone UMC in O’Fallon, MO, we will be shedding light on a dark topic using dance and music.  We anticipate the show to last about one hour. Please come and join our dancers who have been working very hard in preparation.  Our Contemporary teacher, Miss Erin, along with four student choreographers: Megan Alexander, Emi Ferrario, Auriel Hughes and Macaiah Hughes, have created and taught their dances over the last three months.  We have 19 dancers participating who have learned these 8 dances and are rehearsing hard! In the summer of 2013, I met an amazing woman, Amy Pernie, who also runs a Christian dance studio, In His Steps, which is located in Florida.  She has been to India 30 times in the last 9 years and has seen first-hand what Human Trafficking looks like in that part of the world.  We will be using video footage from one of her past trips in our program on January 17, and she will also be coming to support the work we are doing to raise awareness of Human Trafficking.  We are thankful for her prayers and her presence!
